Community & Events

Castlebrook Memorial Park is proud to be part of Sydney's North West community. Supporting our local communities is a crucial role for us as its right at the heart of everything we do.

We help through a variety of initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives through building valuable links within the community, fundraising events, information and education days and advice and assistance.

As a member of the community, we understand the importance of maintaining a strong connection with our community, and we proudly support local organisations, events, and initiatives which promote community values. Castlebrook Memorial Park is also a place where communities come together to join in a range of activities we host including our Open Days, commemorative memorial services and cultural events.

Upcoming Events

Early Colonial History is remembered at Castlebrook Memorial Park. We are home to the Memorial that commemorates the 1804 Irish convict uprising that is known as the Battle of Vinegar Hill. The memorial also commemorates the pioneering spirit of the early non-indigenous settlers. Each year, a Commemoration Service is held with The Friends of Vinegar Hill, Blacktown City Council, The Irish Consul, Allan Drew Funerals and members of the Irish Community. The general public are most welcome to attend.

  • Australia Day – Plant a Flag Day – Friday 26th January 2018
  • Anniversary of the Battle of Vinegar Hill – Sunday 4th March 2018
  • Mother's Day Memorial Service – Sunday 13th May 2018
  • Father's Day Memorial Service – Sunday 2nd September 2018
  • International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day service – Monday 15th October 2018
  • All Souls’ Day Memorial Service – Saturday 3rd November 2018
  • Christmas Memorial Service – Sunday 2nd December 2018 at 10.00am

Each year on International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day we hold a very special commemoration service at Castlebrook in conjunction with staff at Westmead Hospital. The service is held in our Angel Garden for stillborn foetuses.

We also periodically host open days, information nights and seminars on coping with grief. Garden tours can be arranged in advance.
