On Sunday, 26th January 2020, over half of the nation’s population of around 25 million will attend either an organised community event, or get together with family and friends to celebrate Australia Day. Many more may spend the public holiday relaxing with family and friends.
Before the barbeques, beach-going and fireworks, Castlebrook Memorial Park and the Castle Hill RSL Sub Branch encourage the local community to join family members, friends and brothers-and-sisters-in-arms at Castlebrook Memorial Park on Sunday 26th January for the annual Australia Day flag placing tribute.
Placing a flag at each serviceman and servicewoman’s memorial on this special day is one way of showing our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices they made to protect their country.
Participants are invited to muster at Castlebrook Memorial Park’s flagpole area at 6.45am, to the accompaniment of piper and drummers. A procession of RSL members, family and friends will then symbolically ornament the final resting places of Australian servicemen and women with the Australia flag. A true Australian sausage sizzle will take place following the service.
We look forward to you joining us.
